Minnesota Raises Minneapolis PL
Director’s Salary
After failing to attract two finalists for the vacant position of Minneapolis Public Library director at a salary of $120,000, the Minnesota Department of Employee Relations in early December granted the library’s request to waive the state salary limit.
The department set the new annual figure at $130,000, saying the trustees had presented sufficient evidence that the earlier level was a barrier to hiring a new director, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported December 13.
Minnesota law places a ceiling on most public salaries at 95% of the governor’s pay, or $114,288.
