An American who worked at the Jewish National and University Library of Hebrew University in Jerusalem was among seven people killed when a bomb exploded July 31 in a cafeteria at the university’s student center. Dina Carter, 37, who also had Israeli citizenship, was one of five Americans who died in the blast.
Carter immigrated to Israel from North Carolina 12 years ago, Jerusalem’s Ha’aretz newspaper reported August 2. She had a master’s degree in sociology and had worked at the library for five years.
“Carter was charming, and loved by her friends,” Yoram Zafrir, head of the library, told Ha’aretz. “She was very close to the people with whom she worked. She was an excellent worker, very talented and capable.”
The Islamic militant group Hamas claimed responsibility for the blast.
