St. Lifer Named Editor
of School Library Journal
Following the termination of Julie Cummins as editor-in-chief, Evan St. Lifer has been named the editor of School Library Journal, effective September 10. St. Lifer served for the past four years as the executive editor of Library Journal, SLJ’s sister publication at Cahners (a division of Reed Elsevier) in New York City.
St. Lifer told American Libraries that he is looking forward to working with the SLJ staff and that he wants to ensure that school librarians, and all librarians who work with children, have a voice in the national conversation about education. “My main goal is to engage and inform readers with the information to help them do their jobs better in both the short term and long term,” said St. Lifer.
