Former School Librarian Guilty
in Child Porn Case

A former Hartford, Connecticut, school librarian pleaded guilty September 26 to possession of child pornography following an investigation of buyers of videos showing underage Russian boys engaged in sex acts. James M. Chitty, 41, admitted in U.S. District Court in Hartford that he possessed some 5,000 illegal sexually explicit digital images.

Chitty, who resigned after being suspended February 27 from the M. D. Fox Elementary School, has not been accused of inappropriate behavior with children. He has been employed by seven schools in four different states since 1984.

As part of the plea agreement, Chitty agreed to forfeit two computers and more than 100 computer disks. He is scheduled for sentencing December 14.
