Library Foot-Fondler Toes the Line

A man accused of fondling a woman’s foot at the Rutgers University Library of Science and Medicine in New Brunswick, New Jersey, has turned himself in to police. David Bryant, 29, allegedly talked a woman into removing her shoe and sock by telling her that he had seen a spider on her ankle; he then stroked her foot and ankle, according to a March 23 Associated Press report. Bryant surrendered to police after seeing a TV news report on the episode.

Campus police said there have been about 10 reports of similar incidents recently, though Bryant has not been charged in those cases. All of the victims were 18 to 22 years old, and none were threatened or injured.

Last fall, Bryant was charged with similar offenses, as well as with exposing himself to a woman in Rutgers’ Douglass College Library, but failed to appear in court. He now faces charges stemming from the earlier incidents, and has been additionally accused of stealing backpacks and pocketbooks from libraries at two Rutgers campuses.
