Officer Attacked with Screwdriver
at Minnesota Library
A man was arrested August 31 after stabbing a police officer in the face with a screwdriver at the Brainerd (Minn.) Public Library. The 45-year-old suspect was arrested on a warrant for a previous assault charge, police said.
The altercation began outside the library; after the man fled to the library’s bathroom, he got into a struggle with the officer near the library’s entrance, the Brainerd Dispatch reported September 1. No one else in the library was injured in the incident.
Police Captain Lyman Dahl said the man had been arrested last year for pulling a knife on a minister at a soup kitchen. The injured officer was treated at a local medical center and released.
