El Paso Voters Pass
$26-Million Library Bond Issue

Voters approved a $26-million bond issue for improvements to the El Paso (Tex.) Public Library system May 6. The funds will go toward building renovation and construction, materials, and technology; the library does not currently provide public Internet access, and officials report that adding that service will be the top priority in the coming months.

The library bonds passed by 77% of the votes cast. Three other measures—for parks, the zoo, and the history museum—were also approved, but by smaller margins.
