North Dakota High School Library Trashed

Students returned to class March 6 after a vandalism spree that closed Beulah (N.D.) High School for three days. The hardest-hit area was the library, where more than a dozen computers were destroyed, windows broken, tables overturned, and books knocked from the shelves. The damage occurred late on the night of March 1.

“Virtually every piece of electronic equipment has been destroyed,” social studies teacher Jan Oihus told the Associated Press March 4. “The anger that was expressed in this attack—it was uncontrolled. No one in their right mind would do this.”

Police had leads but no suspects in the case, while boxes of evidence are being evaluated at the state crime lab in Bismarck.
