Akron PL Prohibits
White Supremacist Pamphlet
Citing lack of local content, the Akron-Summit County (Ohio) Public Library board January 4 refused to allow distribution of a two-page pamphlet about the World Church of the Creator. Because of limited space, library policy prohibits the posting or distribution of any materials by groups outside the county. The church, headquartered in East Peoria, Illinois, has been identified as a white supremacist organization, according to the January 5 Akron Beacon-Journal.
Kenneth A. Molyneaux, the pamphlet’s distributor, told the board that he was a resident of Akron and was trying to start a local branch of the church. But board member Suzanne Pierce Orender told reporters that Molyneaux’s e-mail address written underneath the church’s Illinois location did not qualify as local content.
The pamphlet describes a religion called Creativity, “established for the Survival, Expansion and Advancement of our White Race exclusively.”
