Bush, Ford Libraries Get New DirectorsArchivist of the United States John W. Carlin has selected new directors for the Gerald R. Ford Library in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum in College Station, Texas. The announcements were made November 30 and December 1 respectively. Dennis A. Daellenbach, currently assistant director of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, will direct both the Ford Library and the Ford Museum in Grand Rapids. He has a Ph.D. in U.S. diplomatic history from the University of Kansas and has previously held positions at the Ford and Eisenhower libraries. Retired Air Force Col. E. Douglas Menarchik, director of the Center for the Defense Leadership and Management Program at the National Defense University in Washington, D.C., will head the Bush Library. He replaces David Alsobrook, who has taken over operations at the Clinton Library project in Little Rock, Arkansas. Posted December 11, 2000. |
