The Schaumburg Township (Ill.) District Library has decided to accept a gift of Michael Collins Piper’s controversial book Final Judgment in a compromise intended to nullify allegations of censorship, according to the March 25 Chicago Tribune.
A panel of three librarians charged with reviewing the book issued a report that concluded there was “no compelling reason” to keep the book off the shelves, especially since its rejection had become such a public issue. However, the report emphasized the panel’s support of the original decision. The reviewing librarians noted the book’s “questionable research methods and sources, its multiple and largely undocumented ad hominem attacks on people, and the poor quality of the writing.”
Final Judgment theorizes that the Israeli intelligence service was involved in John F. Kennedy’s assassination.
