Bethel Park Librarian Faces
More Theft Charges

Additional charges were filed September 16 against fired Bethel Park (Pa.) librarian Dorothy Corbett, who now faces 10 additional counts of theft by unlawful taking and disposition. According to the September 22 Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, a city-mandated library audit revealed an additional $11,479 that she allegedly took from library accounts for her own use between 1994 and 1996.

An affidavit of probable cause filed by police said that Corbett wrote checks for “computer consultant stipends” and bonuses, as well as to vendor Gaylord Brothers and the unidentifiable firm Live Toons.

Corbett paid $37,357 in restitution for thefts that occurred between 1996 and 1998. She is scheduled to appear in common pleas court October 21 on the original 12 charges of theft, and for arraignment on the latest charges in Allegheny County court on October 8.
