Rep. Owens Introduces
School Media Resources Bill
On October 4, Rep. Major Owens (D-N.Y.) introduced H.R. 3008, a bill to amend the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 “to provide up-to-date school library media resources and well-trained, professionally certified school library media specialists for elementary schools and secondary schools.”
The bill is a companion measure to the Elementary and Secondary School Library Media Resources, Training, and Advanced Technology Assistance Act (S. 1262), introduced June 22 by Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.). That bill is currently before the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions.
