IMLS Announces
National Leadership Grants

The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) awarded 50 grants totaling $10,405,993 on September 24 for exemplary leadership in library and information science and model programs of library and museum collaboration. The National Leadership Grants support education and research in library and information science, preservation and digitization of library resources, and library-museum partnerships.

The IMLS also announced 13 grants totaling $1,494,062 for library service to Native Americans in Indian tribal communities and Alaskan native villages.

In addition, the 11 recipients of Museum Leadership Initiatives Awards included collaborative efforts between the Chicago Botanic Garden and the Chicago Public Library, the Ann Arbor District Library and the University of Michigan’s Exhibit Museum of Natural History, and the Detroit Zoological Institute and the Detroit Public Library.
