Arrest Warrant Issued for Missing LibrarianPolice have issued a warrant for the arrest of Bethel Park (Pa.) Public Library Director Dorothy Corbett, missing since February 16. According to the February 26 Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, she is charged with six counts each of theft, theft by deception, and receiving stolen property. Members of the library board approached police February 18 with suspicions about missing funds. Library records revealed that Corbett had written six checks to the Library Bureau, a furniture supplier in Massachusetts, and cashed them herself, one as early as 1996. Board Treasurer Pat Griffith had approached Corbett about the discrepancies four days before she disappeared. Suspicion initially fell on Corbett when it turned out that the meetings she had scheduled for the afternoon she vanished were fictitious. The trustees appointed administrative assistant Mary Rollinger as acting director. Posted March 1, 1999. |
