Fugitive Librarian Surrenders to Police

Dorothy Corbett, director of the Bethel Park (Pa.) Public Library, who has been missing since February 16, turned herself in to police March 1 shortly after landing at Pittsburgh International Airport. Bethel Park police said she had been in Jacksonville, Florida, and had contacted her husband the day before, indicating she wanted to turn herself in.

According to the March 2 Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Corbett, who has directed the library for 16 years, will undergo a preliminary hearing April 1 on charges she stole $27,500 in checks from a library account. She was released after posting a bond of $2,000.
