National Digital Library Learning Center
to Open at Library of Congress

The Library of Congress is scheduled to open its National Digital Library Learning Center June 21 in the atrium of the James Madison Building. The facility will be used to train teachers in the classroom use of LC’s American Memory historical collections.

A gift of $250,000 from Microsoft funded the center’s renovation and software upgrade. The library also plans to make the facility available to the public to demonstrate LC’s use of technology.

The National Digital Library program provides educational content on the Internet through American Memory, connecting educators and students to the library’s primary sources. More than 2 million items in all formats are currently available, on topics ranging from the Civil War to the Civil Rights Movement.
