Peggy D. Rudd Named
Texas State Librarian

Peggy D. Rudd, who currently serves as chief of the State Library of Florida’s Bureau of Library Development, has been named director and librarian of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission. Her appointment is effective October 1.

Rudd will succeed Robert S. Martin, who is joining the library school faculty of Texas Woman’s University, after having headed the state library since 1995.

Chair of ALA’s Committee on Research and Statistics, Rudd is president-elect of the State Library Agency Section of ALA’s Association of Specialized and Cooperative Library Agencies. Before serving in Florida, she held a number of academic- and public-library posts in Texas.
