A Waco pastor who has been trying to convince city officials to block pornography from the Internet terminals at the Waco-McLennan County (Tex.) Public Library has accepted City Manager Kathy Rice's challenge to find software that blocks sexually explicit material without overreaching. At a February 3 press conference held after his meeting with Rice, Rev. Joe Carbajal of the Mighty Wind Worship Center said he'd make his recommendations in two weeks.
“I heard the sincerity of Kathy's heart in wanting to find a solution,” Carbajal, who was joined by clergy and parishioners from five other churches, according to the February 4 Waco Tribune-Herald. Rice, in turn, said she'd expressed her concerns to Carbajal about parents “rely[ing] on the fact that there's a filter there.”
Determined to have filters installed on all of the library's public-access machines, Carbajal said he'd take his cause to the city council if officials don't comply.
