Gift Puts CSU/San Marcos
Construction Fund Over the Top

A $1.1-million donation to California State University/San Marcos will allow the university to start the construction of a $44.5-million library six months ahead of a deadline to raise the needed $2.5 million private seed money.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reported December 9 that the gift was from Gaby and Rich Sulpizio, the parents of Tricia Marie Sulpizio, who graduated from CSUSM this year with a psychology degree.

The 10-year-old university plans a 200,000-square-foot complex that would hold up to 840,000 books and 1,800 computers, as well as a faculty center and community rooms. Officials expect to break ground in mid-2001.
