A teleconference to explore recent changes in copyright law will be held Friday, May 21 from noon to 3 p.m. EST. "Copyright in the New Millennium: The Impact of Recent Changes to U.S. Copyright Law" will feature a panel of experts describing new laws enacted by Congress last year—the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and the Sonny Bono Copyright Term Extension Act—and discussing their implications for libraries, archives, and educational institutions. The panel will also discuss strategies for the library community as it engages in the ongoing studies required by the new laws and confronts pending legislation on databases and distance learning.
The teleconference, hosted by George Washington University Library, is sponsored by the American Library Association, the Association of Research Libraries, the American Association of Law Libraries, the Medical Library Association, and the Special Libraries Association.
The registration fee is $350 per site before May 5 and $400 afterwards. The registration form and more information are available on the Association of Research Libraries Web site.
