Security Beefed Up in Wake of Vandalism

Security around the Mission Viejo (Calif.) Library has been increased after several after-hour vandalism incidents.

The Los Angeles Times reported March 30 that the incidents included a Molotov cocktail thrown against the library's front door, several broken lights in the parking lot, windows smashed and tires slashed on at least two vehicles, plus outdoor furniture marked with graffiti over a two-week span in late March.

Hoping to curb the vandalism, the city plans to hire a private security firm at a cost of about $2,000 a month to patrol the library.
