Dorothy Corbett, the Pennsylvania librarian charged with 24 counts of theft from the Bethel Park (Pa.) Public Library, paid the library board $37,357.85 in restitution by check April 13. The 57-year-old library director was suspended March 4, following a 13-day hunt for her whereabouts.
According to the April 15 Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, charges against Corbett were revised earlier this month. Six charges of receiving stolen property were removed and the number of theft counts was increased, which could allow her to avoid prison.
Corbett was scheduled for a preliminary hearing April 16. Her attorney, Carl Parise, told the newspaper she intended to plead not guilty. Bethel Park Police Chief Ed Felicetti said the restitution amount was the amount investigators believed to be missing and the investigation was closed.
