Bombs Found in New Hampshire LibrariesHours after a pipe bomb set off a small fire at the Concord (N.H.) Public Library October 27, state police discovered a second bomb at the nearby State Library. State police said the devices were found following an anonymous letter to the governor's office stating that bombs would be set off in the city, the Associated Press reported. The letter's contents were described as "anti-government." The first bomb was found around 7:45 p.m. when its lit fuse set a book on fire. Library staff, alerted by the smoke, called firefighters, who extinguished the fire and called the state police bomb squad. A state trooper found the second bomb five hours later on the outside steps of the State Library. About a dozen staff and patrons were evacuated from the city library, and nearby streets were cordoned off. The State Library, as well as the nearby Statehouse and Legislative Office Building, were closed the following day while police investigated. The city library reopened October 29.
