Wyoming State Librarian Fired
Without Explanation

Helen Meadors, state librarian of Wyoming, was fired April 27 over what are being characterized as confidential personnel matters. Announcing the firing the following day, state Administration and Information Department Director Art Ellis said he could not discuss any of the issues that led to the termination.

Meadors said in the April 29 Casper Star-Tribune that the firing had taken her by surprise. "I feel that I've been very successful in my four years," she said. "I was not given a reason, I was just told it was in the best interests of the library, and thank you very much, goodbye."

Ellis said Deputy State Librarian Jerry Krois will serve as interim director while a screening committee searches for a replacement.
