Lewinsky to Turn Over Book-Purchase RecordsMonica Lewinsky's attorneys have agreed to give Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr records of her book purchases from Washington bookstore Kramerbooks, the Associated Press reported June 23. Co-owner Bill Kramer said in a statement, "Mr. Starr recognizes the information he sought was available elsewhere, and now will obtain that information directly from Ms. Lewinsky and her legal team.'' He said his store did not ask Lewinsky's lawyers to cooperate but added, "We firmly believe she is entitled to make her own free and unfettered decisions.'' Kramerbooks fought Starr's subpoena of the records, which was condemned by ALA and other groups, who filed an amicus brief April 2 supporting the store's motion to quash the subpoena.
