Atlanta-Fulton Trustees Appoint
Yates Interim Director
The board of trustees of the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System in Georgia announced May 27 that it had appointed Ella Gaines Yates interim library director, beginning the next day. The appointment follows the resignation of Julie Hunter, who served as director for a tumultuous 15 months after the retirement of Ron Dubberly.
Currently a consultant, Yates served as director of the library from 1976 to 1981 when it was the Atlanta Public Library. She also served as state librarian and archivist of Virginia from 1986 to 1990. Her MSLS is from Atlanta University, and she earned a Juris Doctorate from Atlanta Law School.
