MCI Cybrarian Awards Laud
51 High-Tech Librarians

MCI honored one librarian in every one of the 50 states plus the District of Columbia July 21 with a Cybrarian of the Year award. The awards follow a two-month online competition in which entrants completed comprehensive application forms that were then reviewed by in independent judging panel made up of leading information technology specialists.

The 51 librarians were rewarded for their commitment to using technology for the betterment of library patrons and the community in general. Each will receive $1,000 donation toward library educational materials and one year of complimentary access to the Internet.

"Now more than ever, a library card is a key to the world," said MCI President and CEO Tim Price. "As the nation's libraries have become increasingly popular places to access the Internet, librarians are needed more than ever to help educate, create, and develop vast information technology resources for their communities."
