Glazer's Family Drops Lawsuit

The family of former West Virginia Library Commissioner Fred Glazer, who died in December, has dropped his lawsuit against the commission and the Secretary of Education and the Arts.

After he was dismissed from his job in April 1996, Glazer filed suit charging wrongful discharge, age discrimination, defamation, and other allegations.

"In our view, many of the claims clearly survive Mr. Glazer's untimely death," the family's lawyer, Tom Potter, told the Charlotte Daily Gazette January 14. "However, we are filing this motion at the direction of the Glazer family members, who no longer wish to pursue the action.

"Nothing can bring him back, and to pursue the action against those who were determined for still yet unknown reasons to destroy him, will provide no solace to the family," Potter said.
