Canadian Librarian Association Names
New Executive Director

Vicki Whitmell will become the new executive director of the Canadian Library Association in April. Whitmell has been chief librarian at the University of Toronto's Joseph L. Rotman School of Management since 1990. Previously she held management positions at two large law firms and was the director of legal library resources at the Manitoba Department of the Attorney General. She received her MLS from the University of Toronto in 1984.

"Rapid change and the impact of technology on our field make this a very important time for us," said Whitmell. "I look forward to working with the membership to make certain the association can play an important and valuable role in helping us all meet the challenges that lie ahead."

Whitmell will succeed Karen Adams, who became director of library and information services at the University of Alberta in Edmonton January 19.
