Pennsylvania Governor Releases Funds
for New Penn State Library

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge has given the go-ahead to a $14.6-million library for Penn State University's Harrisburg campus, authorized since 1992.

The library is the largest project to be financed by the $19 million in capital budget funds released by Gov. Ridge March 23. The facility will provide state-of-the-art library services, general and special collections areas, study and work rooms, computer facilities, and classrooms.

"Penn State/Harrisburg's new library has been a long-awaited dream of faculty, students, and an entire community," said Gov. Ridge. "My administration is keeping the state's commitment to the Penn State and Harrisburg communities and will make this dream come true. A new state-of-the-art library--an essential component of any university--will soon be built on this fine central Pennsylvania campus."
