New OCLC Chief NamedOCLC Online Computer Library Center on April 20 named Robert L. "Jay" Jordan president and CEO of the Dublin, Ohio-based nonprofit computer library-service organization. Jordan, 55, is currently president of new business development for the Information Handling Services Group of Englewood, Colorado. He will succeed K. Wayne Smith, who is retiring in May after nearly 10 years in the position. "Mr. Jordan brings to OCLC an international perspective and a record of imaginative leadership," said OCLC Board of Trustees Chair Sharon J. Rogers. "We believe he will take OCLC to a new level as it pursues its public purposes of furthering access to the world's information and reducing information costs." Posted April 27, 1998. |
