Petition Against Clinton Library Funding Fails
Empower Arkansas has failed to garner enough signatures in a petition drive to block the city of Little Rock from issuing $16.5 million in bonds to purchase land for President Clinton's presidential library.
The anti-tax group intended to force an election on the plan, but gathered only about half of the 8,500 signatures needed by the April 19 deadline. The bond issue will pay for the purchase and clearing of 27.7 acres for the library in east Little Rock.
