Rabin's Widow Raising Money for Presidential LibraryLeah Rabin, widow of slain Israeli prime minister Yitzak Rabin, has spent the two years since her husband's assassination keeping his legacy alive. Now, she has announced plans for a $40-million presidential library in Tel Aviv to honor the man to whom she was married for 47 years. Envisioned as an Israeli equivalent of an American presidential library, the structure will include a museum and a research center where Israeli and foreign academics can study current issues in Israeli society. "We have a beautiful spot overlooking all of Tel Aviv, Leah Rabin said in the November 26 Dallas Morning News. "It's going to be something very gorgeous." She made the remarks while in Dallas for an appearance before the Dallas Council on World Affairs. Posted December 29, 1997. |
