Embattled Director Darrell Batson of the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District said if he needs to change his management style to make "excellent library service" he will do so, according to the December 15 Las Vegas Sun.
Following widespread complaints that they were voiceless and undervalued, more than 85% of the full-time employees signed up with Teamsters Local 14 in early December. Employees called Batson's fifth-floor administrative offices "unapproachable" and said it was ruled by obstructive people who are running the library in Batson's stead, chiefly trustee Barbara Robinson and Karen Bramwell, who wears three hats: assistant to the board and to the director, and head of public relations.
At a December 11 board meeting Jane Richardson, administrator of the Rainbow branch, called for Batson's resignation "for the good of the district." The Sun report stated she also called for the resignation of Robinson and Bramwell.
