ALCTS Staff Services

The ALCTS office staff provides a wide range of services to manage the operations of the division, its leaders, and its members.

Among those services are:

  • Interprets policy and advises on procedures
  • Negotiates contracts for: meetings, catering, AV equipment, speakers, authors, publications, etc.
  • Maintains divisions records, files, and archives
  • Manages: the appointments process; program support; continuing education support; publications, including the ALCTS Newsletter Online and LRTS; and more
  • Acts as a resource for all other ALCTS operations
  • Arranges for travel and reimburses for travel expenses
  • Produces and advises on press releases, publicity, and advertising
  • Produces election ballots and notifies candidates of results
  • Maintains committee rosters and prepares materials for the ALA Handbook
  • Acts as the Board secretariat; maintains Board documents, records minutes, and helps establish agenda
  • Arranges for and maintains discussion lists and online communities
  • Staffs the Midwinter and Annual office areas and supports ALCTS programs, meetings, and more at each event
  • Serves as liaisons in support of many ALCTS committees
  • Maintains and supports the ALCTS Web site
  • Serves as contact for Midwinter and Annual meeting requests
  • Arranges for stationery, envelopes, mailing labels and more for leaders for official business use
  • Prepares reports as needed or requested
  • Generally provides support for ALCTS leaders and members in order that they can carry out their responsibilities
  • Serves as liaison to ALA and its other divisions, offices, and departments
