ALCTS Manual

Welcome

The ALCTS Manual gathers in one place the information, policies, and procedures that govern the operation of the multiple facets of this association. This manual accurately reflects the policies and procedures followed by ALCTS but these do change as the Board of Directors considers questions and issues related to the operation of the association.

The Manual and the information it contains are valuable to ALCTS leaders, an active volunteer, a member, or the general public and is arranged for easy navigation.

The Manual is one of several groups of documents that govern and inform ALCTS. The chief governing document is the ALCTS bylaws. The ALCTS bylaws however must not conflict with the ALA bylaws and constitution, which are the overriding ALA documents by which ALCTS is governed. Secondly, ALCTS policies and procedures must be written and adopted so they are not in conflict with ALA policies and procedures.

The policies and procedures outlined in the Manual are fluid and responsive to the needs of the association at any given point in time. The ALCTS Board of Directors oversees the formation and implementation of the policies and procedures to make sure that they reflect the priorities, initiatives, issues, and concerns of the ALCTS Board and the ALCTS membership.

Please feel free to contact the ALCTS Executive Director for advice and help with the ALCTS Manual.

We hope that you will find the information useful.
