Charge: To coordinate the association's publication program by: (1) facilitating the expeditious handling of ALCTS publications by (a) reviewing, as rapidly as possible and prior to their submission to the ALCTS Board, all proposals for and manuscripts of publications originating in the division or any of its units, other than institute or promotional brochures, advertisements, publications lists (as opposed to bibliographies), and issues of existing journals (this includes proposals for serial publications and publications in any format); (b) suggesting an appropriate dissemination medium for each proposed publication; (c) identifying standards for content, format, and style for ALCTS publications; (d) insuring adherence to these and to appropriate editorial standards by assisting authors of ALCTS publications in the preparation of manuscripts; (e) reviewing ALCTS monographs-in-print and recommending to the appropriate section titles that need updating or revision, or suggesting possible subjects for publication; (f) recommending publishing priorities to the ALCTS Board; (g) assisting the ALA Publishing Committee and ALA Publishing Services in matters related to ALCTS publishing activities as requested; (h) reviewing and recommending to the Board proposed ALCTS endorsements of non-ALCTS publications; (2) providing a forum for discussion of editorial policy for the division's serial publications; and to plan and monitor activities using the Association's Strategic and Tactical Plan as a framework.
