The Continuing Education Committee of the Association for College & Research Libraries (ACRL) Science and Technology Section (STS) conducts a survey every two years to identify the continuing education interests of its constituents. At the January 2004 ALA Midwinter meeting it was proposed that we carry out this survey in collaboration with the Special Libraries Association – SciTech Division and the American Society for Engineering Education - Engineering Libraries Division. During the fall of 2005, the survey was distributed through the listservs of these three organizations. The analysis of the 133 responses presented here is the result of that collaboration.
Summary: Topics of Greatest Interest
Respondents were asked to identify three important issues and topics in science and technology librarianship. Following the list of pre-selected topics they were given one more chance to list a topic of interest. Topics of greatest interest fell into the following broad categories:
