Teaching and Learning Information Literacy Skills:
Textbooks for Students and Instruction Librarians

This annotated bibliography of information literacy textbooks is produced by the ACRL Instruction Section Teaching Methods Committee.  Listed textbooks are suitable to use as an assigned textbook for a semester-long library/research skills course. In addition to textbooks for students, there are textbooks listed to help someone design his or her own library/research skills course. Paired with each citation is a list of published reviews including reviews authored by committee members.

The list is reviewed and updated annually. The annotated bibliography is a work in progress: current selections are based on recommendations from ILI-L (formerly BI-L) and committee members. We invite recommendations for additional texts based on the scope described above. Please send any recommendations to the Teaching Methods Committee at:  rlmiller@lfc.edu.
