Mentoring Committee, Instruction Section, ACRL

Committee Background

Charge:
To develop and manage a mentoring program whereby experienced instruction librarians are recruited to serve as mentors to newer librarians or librarians new to instruction or the Instruction Section. Tasks include developing guidelines and procedures, linking mentors with mentees, developing and maintaining online resources relating to good mentoring practices, and exploring opportunities for collaborations with other mentoring programs within the American Library Association. Annual Planning:
This committee hopes to start their innagural year in 2008, where mentors and mentees will be matched after the Annual ALA Conference this summer.

Meetings:
Committees generally meet twice at the Midwinter Meeting and once at the Annual Conference. Most meetings are open to visitors. Check the full schedule of IS meetings which is posted about one month before each conference and will be linked from the IS homepage.
