ACRL Instruction Section Soiree @ ALA Midwinter Meeting
January 11, 2008, 5:30-7pm

It took a little longer, but boy do we have something special planned for you! This year's IS Soiree will be held at the bar in the SoleFood restaurant at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel. This is a co-headquarter hotel just a few steps from the Convention Center and the landmark City Hall. SoleFood is an "eclectic, hip" restaurant in Center City with a fine view of the busy street outside.

Lite bites will be provided thanks to generous sponsors including the University of Pittsburgh School of Library & Information Science, Syracuse University School of Information Studies, Penn State Altoona, the ACRL Instruction Section, and the Pennsylvania African American Library Association.

Come early to get a bite, a specialty drink (or two), and plan to stay awhile! Meet new friends and catch up with old over drinks and dinner. Wine, beer, and cocktails range from $4.50-9 and happy hour from 5-7pm features wine and specialty martinis for $5. If you stay for dinner at SoleFood, reservations (215.231.7300) are recommended. Visit GoPhila.com or see the American Libraries' dining guide for other nearby dining options.

Online registration closed January 4. Email contacts listed below if you would still like to attend. Members, alumni, and guests welcome!

What: Instruction Section Soiree

When: January 11, 2008, 5:30-7pm

Where: SoleFood Restaurant and Bar in the Loews Philadelphia Hotel, 1200 Market Street, Philadelphia (co-headquarter hotel) – see location on Google Maps

The Loews Hotel is at the corner of 12th and Market Streets in the historic PSFS building. "PSFS" is prominently displayed in neon at the top of the building, with Loews and SoleFood signs on the street level.

Travel: It's a short, safe walk to SoleFood from the Convention Center and neighboring hotels. However, we encourage anyone traveling more than 4 blocks to the Loews Hotel consider taking a cab.

Cab/Taxi: Cab fare from other conference hotels will be approximately $8-12. Cab fares are per trip, not per person, so grab a few friends and split the fare!

Public Transportation: The Loews Hotel is one block from the SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority) Market Street East subway station and close to various bus routes. Check with your hotel bell staff or concierge for assistance; train and bus stops are not conveniently located near all conference hotels. You can learn more about Philadelphia's public transportation system at www.septa.org.

Access: Ground floor location easily accessible for the differently abled. Due to the high-volume of traffic in the hotel, attendees may wish to allow themselves a little extra time to get to the event.
