The cover art is a detail from an illustration in the multivolume work Description de L’Égypte, ou Recueil des Observations et des Recherches qui ont été Faites en Égypte Pendant L’Expédition de l’Armée Française, Publié par les Ordres de sa Majesté l’Empereur Napoléon le Grand. Antiquités, Planches held in the Treasure Collection of the duPont-Ball Library, Stetson University, DeLand, Florida. These volumes serve as the definitive work on the antiquities and natural history of Egypt. Publication began in 1809 under Napoleon Bonaparte and finished under Charles X in 1829. The primary contributors included engineers and architects who accompanied Napoleon on his Egyptian Expedition, and its aftermath, from 1798 to 1801. The duPont-Ball Library houses more than 330,000 books and bound periodicals and approximately 245,000 federal documents in paper format. The Treasure Collection is part of the library’s University Archives and Special Collections.
