About the cover

This watercolor illustration by Olga Bajusova is the frontispiece for Don’t Forget the Fairy, a collection of children’s stories written by Dana Podracka (Bratislava, Slovakia: Mlade Leta, 1991). Don’t Forget the Fairy is one of several books illustrated by Bajusova in the Children’s Book Collection of the Instructional Materials Center at Slippery Rock University (SRU). The illustration accompanies a story in which, Lidka, the 10-year-old protagonist, tells her mother how much she appreciated a special day the two of them shared—a day when her mother pretended to be a fairy. Bajusova’s work, including our cover illustration, was featured in an exhibit hosted by SRU’s Bailey Library, in cooperation with the art department, in 2001.
