University Press Feature. Every May issue of Choice includes a multipart feature on university press publishing. This year's feature is in four parts: a forum in which directors offer thoughts about their presses or about university press publishing in general; a list of significant titles for undergraduates; a forward-looking essay by Michigan's Phil Pochoda; and an introduction by Rebecca Ann Bartlett, Choice humanities editor.
Editors' Picks: This new feature began as a Web exclusive in Choice Reviews Online, the Web version of the magazine. This eclectic listing of noteworthy titles from the current issue highlights the wide scope and diversity of publications reviewed in Choice.
Science and the Humanities, by Gail Shivel, lecturer in English at the University of Miami.
From the time of the ancient Greeks and Romans, who did not sharply distinguish between art and science, to the present, when the gap between science and the humanities yawns ever wider, Shivel highlights notable works that examine the interface between the two worldviews. The cite list has two parts: the first gives relatively recent, primarily secondary works; the second lists classics, including some recommended editions.
Forthcoming Science and Technology Titles. Regularly appearing each year in the May issue, this selected list provides information on new titles of potential relevance for academic libraries.
