Getting Started with Screencasting

Webcast Description:
This two hour session will explore screencasting—delivering screen captures via RSS—and its potential applications in the academic library. Participants will be provided with examples of screencasts, information on various software applications used to create screencasts, and tips for choosing content, preparing, recording and delivering a screencast.

This Webcast will last approximately two hours.

Presenter:
Courtney Greene
is Instruction & Online Learning Librarian at DePaul University, where she is also pursuing a second master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction. Courtney is an experienced instructor, presenting library research instruction, teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level for DePaul's First Year Program and School for New Learning. Additionally, she regularly presents continuing education sessions for library staff on topics related to technology, reference, and library instruction through library systems in the Chicago metropolitan area. Additionally, Courtney has developed Web-based library instruction for DePaul departments and for the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois (CARLI). Courtney earned her Master of Library Science degree, as well as a BA in English and Journalism, from Indiana University-Bloomington.

Technical Requirements:
This Webcast will be held in a virtual classroom. You will be prompted to download a java-based application (Elluminate) before being able to enter the classroom.

Speakers or a headset for listening to the presentation are required. It is recommended that you also use a microphone to ask questions/make comments. If you do not have or do not wish to use a microphone, you may ask questions through text-based chat.

* Webcasts take place in an interactive, online classroom environment with one user/one login. If you select the group rate, one person must register, login, and keyboard during the event. A group registration allows an institution to project the Webcast to participants in the same location.
