How to get Started with Information Literacy: Special SelectionAn ACRL/TLT Group Online Seminar Seminar Leader: Workshop Description: These resources are selected specifically for librarians, faculty members, faculty development professionals, and their colleagues who are just beginning to help students learn how to use information resources more responsibly and effectively - especially those that include Web-based materials. We recommend this workshop to individuals or teams from colleges and universities that are in the early stages of developing a more institution-wide approach to information literacy. Note: These selected resources are readily available from a variety of sources, mostly on the Web, and include ACRL's guidelines and standards. However, we expect and encourage many participants to adapt the definitions and goals for "information literacy" to the needs and resources of their own institutions. Some may find it necessary to chose a different label, even while embracing the fundamental mission of "information literacy." For more information literacy resources, visit ACRL's Information Literacy Web site. Registration A $15 discount per registrant will be applied to participants registering from the same institution (first registrant pays full fee). For an additional $45, you can purchase a planning review. For the planning review, a participant submits a written plan based on workshop content within one week of completion of the workshop and receives detailed suggestions from leaders within two weeks of submission. Register online through TLT Group. |
