For several years, funds have been available to give chapters the opportunity to invite members of the ACRL Board and the Executive Director to the region as participants in chapter activities. The purpose of the visit is to speak about the activities and initiatives of ACRL and to learn of members’ interests at chapter level. Last year, several chapters benefited from the ACRL Chapters Speakers Bureau program.
The program continues this year with a slate of speakers eager to share ideas. Below is an informational listing of the ACRL President, Vice-President/President-Elect and Executive, as well as, a listing of their speech topics.
To maintain equity, each chapter or potential chapter is visited at a frequency of approximately every four years. Potential chapters are defined as those in an active state of being formed. This budget line is funded at an average of $750 per trip.
The chapter may indicate a preference for a particular officer from among the three, but if that person is not available (or is already over committed) another officer may represent the Association.
The chapter should send the Request for an ACRL Officer form to the ACRL office, attention Megan Griffin. Submit requests for a fall/spring conference as soon as possible. Chapters are awarded funding on a first come, first serve basis.
If you have any questions, contact ACRL.
