This fall ALA expanded its support of Capwiz to make it easy for each Chapter to advocate for libraries in tough times. Maryland and Florida and 41 other state associations are mobilizing librarians and library users to contact governors and state legislators.
Using software that has made groups such as MoveOn.org so successful at viral marketing and grassroots lobbying, ALA and its Chapters are using the Capwiz online software to push action messages on the tough economy directly to members and library users across the country. With just a few clicks, it is easy for anyone to send a message directly to state and federal officials.
By bundling into a shared system, ALA saves Chapters much needed dollars. Each ALA State Chapter has its own Capwiz Center website to post up-to-date information on legislation impacting libraries.
In these tough times, we need everyone to speak up for libraries. If you receive an Action Alert from ALA or your state library association, please take a few minutes to add your voice, and make a difference.
If you are not a member of ALA or an ALA Chapter and would like to advocate for libraries, sign up for our e-mailing list.
