The four-volume reference set entitled Crime and Punishment in America provides an overview of historical and recent topics related to criminal activity and the American legal system.

The Encyclopedia not only addresses current Western clothing and fashion, but also takes a broad, cross-disciplinary approach to clothing and fashion throughout the world and over time. An expert in the field writes the introductory essay for each topic. The Editor in Chief, Valerie Steele, well known for her own research and writing on fashion, is the current director of the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.

Creative bulletin boards are an ongoing public relations tool for every library.Both books are geared to the K-12 school librarian, but much of what is included would be useful for public librarians too, especially for the children’s and teens’ rooms. Hawthorne and Gibson suggest that library bulletin boards and showcases motivate student learning because of their visual emphasis.
